For those of you who have been reading this blog, you may have noticed that it has changed quite a bit. The old posts will be uploaded again in archive format, certainly, but I’ve been guided to focus more specifically on spirituality and spirit guides. “Semiotics of the Sacred,” the old title, was a nod to my previous studies as an undergraduate and graduate student in semiotics. It was more philosophical and detached than the angels wanted me to be, and it let me hide, as signs and semiotics so happily allow. Now, with 2009 beginning and, on January 5th, Jupiter entering Aquarius (my Sun sign), it became time to step forward more.

I never set out to talk to angels. I thought they belonged to Judeo-Christian traditions, or else they belonged to the most saccharine aspects of New Age spirituality. The pop culture contact I had with them didn’t impress me much, either. I had no interest in golden-haired, fair skinned people with wings who intervened in our lives to save us at the 11th hour and who, in one encounter, can get us to forget all about our human dramas and live in love and compassion. Part of my disinterest in angels was due to my own baggage, and part of it was due to the fact that neither religion, New Age spirituality or pop culture ever got angels right, and nor could they.
